Lincoln Aviator Concept - preview of the new premium SUV

Like Cadillac, the competitive Lincon has caught the wind in its sails and is thoroughly rebuilding its model range. Soon, the smaller Aviator will join the giant Navigator SUV. A conceptual preview was shown in New York.

The name Aviator refers to the SUV, which the luxury Ford brand produced until 2005. The manufacturer's offer will take place below the Navigator, whose latest generation is very popular overseas. The Aviator will seat 7 people on three rows of seats.

Ford emphasizes that this time the Aviator will not only be a better equipped version of Ford Explorer, but a really separate model. Both SUVs will probably be similar in size, but will be built on the basis of other platforms. The basic versions of Ford Explorer have front-wheel drive, and the Aviator will be a rear-wheel drive SUV. Of course, the higher varieties will not lack 4x4 drive.

We don't know the exact details yet, but Ford has revealed that the Aviator Concept is a plug-in hybrid. Probably the combustion heart of the system is the V6 gasoline engine.

The design of the conceptual Aviator refers to the Navigator. In the cabin, Lincoln opted for a very elegant and luxurious design. Leather, wood and metal were used to finish the interior. Before the driver's eyes there is a large screen that plays the role of a virtual cockpit, the heart of the multimedia system is the screen in the center console with a diagonal of 12 inches. Americans in their style have left a lot of buttons, switches and knobs.

An interesting fact that Lincoln mentioned is the adaptive suspension that adapts to the road situation. The car scans the road in front of the Aviators on an ongoing basis and thus knows how to set the shock absorbers to ensure the highest possible ride comfort. This system is to hit the production version of Aviator.

And this is what Ford announces for next year. Considering that the Aviator Concept is a very mundane project for a concept vehicle, we can expect to sell almost the same-looking SUV.
